15 - IRON MAIDEN " The Final Frontier "

"The Final Frontier" is the new album, number 15 - the legendary and iconic band Iron Maiden .
went on sale on August 16, after having waited four years without these British musicians will record anything under study from its previous "A Matter of Life and Death" . And I think that the wait was worth it.
.
Before commenting on the musical content of this new work, I would like to refer to home-and art in general-disk:
I think the cover is very elaborate, the style is very striking and picturesque, but I do not match the image that always had the band. As we see, Eddie appears, and the headlines, but lost a lot of the traditional, too modern, and to be in 3D format, contributed to miss the essence of classic covers of the English group.

cartoonist classic Maiden has been Derek Riggs, and I believe that no longer count on him, is lost too. Until "Fear of the Dark" drew around him, and even there, I love all the covers. To "The X Factor" and "Virtual XI" the band had hired other people to do the covers, and I also noticed ... I do not look bad, but not compared to the work of Derek Riggs.
In "Brave New World" work with Derek again, and I believe such a thing does not go unnoticed ... the cover of this album is, without doubt, very good. And here this man ended up collaborating with the band, in my humble opinion, that's the reason why the tops of the past who have recorded CDs are not perfect.
.
internal art (the book) did not seem very interesting either, missing more Eddies and there are only a group photo and you see in the dark, giving it a mystery character space, as it shows the concept of this new album.
. Speaking
and the most important, musical: I found very gancheros and direct the new work, despite averaging about eight minutes of his songs. I bought it last week no sooner came to our city (ugly and monotonous) Chivilcoy, and still I can not stop listening to it, honestly surprised me ... my expectations were lower.

The structures of the compositions maintain style of "Brave New World" (Part of this is due to continue working and for ten years, with producer Kevin Shirley ). I mean songs often long, eight minutes later, with clean guitar intro, which then changed into powerful and distorted, and finally slowly again, or perhaps also with changes in sounds clean in the middle, or parts of rhythm changes implemented also in half, allowing the music is very meticulous and neat.
not have wasted those who can make tremendous cuts, full of melodies and intricate arrangements, giving it a progressive touch. Again, the three guitars are present and can be distinguished very well, which highlights even more that characterizes a great development in the songs.

Another highlight violas are the melodies that go on voice of Bruce Dickinson , that have already known how long, and this album There is enough of it and this was really good because it allows the issues become even more gancheros and make you want to listen to nonstop.

's bass Steve Harris and Nicko McBrain battery make a very strong rhythm, as always! - And the arrangements of the two instruments are great, pure Heavy Metal the most good.

And the voice of Bruce ... what can we say? The man is thriving, it's amazing the physical and vocal keeps putting me goosebumps, it has weakened in the slightest, still singing with ample power, and stretching his record clean at the top or acute. Since such a thing, to hear him sing lower notes in a more calm and relaxed, never lose the pleasure of hearing him go. Bruce genius! More is added that is one of the best and most influential singers in the history of Metal. One of their parents.
.
Making a general panning in the song list: these are ten songs in this new conceptual album that tells a space odyssey, is the second conceptual record in the history of his career ( The first is "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" 1988, in case anyone does not know).

started off with "Satellite 15 ... The Final Frontier" , which begins with an intro quite progressive, environmental well this idea and futuristic disk space where you hear a drum stand that plays a lot with drummer, accompanied by a rhythm of violas and bass; to which we add guitar tapping choppy. Then follows a kind of narrative that interprets Dickinson sung on a clean, cut the intro and the song starts normally. It's pretty rock and classical, straightforward.
I still "El Dorado" , a composition similar style, which goes to the point, and together with the first track, were chosen as cut radio airplay. My taste is not the best the album, has titles than them.
continue with "Mother of Mercy" , very good song, a little more melodic and with an excellent introduction that combines clean and distorted guitars, with a very accomplished!
Subsequently, "Coming Home" , a title ... a little worn and is intended as a more melodic, almost like his earlier also, and has a chorus with feeling, the kind that we can listen to forever.
Then we have what I consider the most convincing and direct piece of the disc, "The Achemist" very good topic, in the vein of anthems like "The Trooper" . Follow
"The Isle of Avalon" ... one of my favorites! Have excellent cuts and changes, is one of those songs that start with calm voices and violas in clean. Seems to have two choruses, as has been known to do in such titles as "Rainmaker" , which before the chorus is something, I do not know how to define, because bridge is not, "that gives the impression of being another pre-chorus. This makes the piece has a lot of cane, as they say in English. Great song!
Then we continue with "Starblind" , extensive and slow introduction quite interesting too.
then "The Talisman" : it starts slow but then explodes, it becomes quite fast and heavy, one of the most powerful of the disc.
then "The Man Who Would be King" , which is 8 ': 28'', but not the notes, the hook it has. Here Bruce sings the verses with a natural good voice, very "Hiter" and then in the chorus vocal cords requires demonstrating its unique capabilities in a fast and direct sequence. One of the best tracks on the CD, depending on who writes.
And to close, we have "When the Wild Wind Blows" , which lasts eleven minutes, the second largest of the Beast, behind "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" , which comes to about thirteen. But also notice the long-term closure of this title, as it has much appeal. Here we do not hear voices very acute Bruce sings more naturally all the time, and it looks great ... is my favorite song of the album, the instrumental part of the medium also falls, melodies and guitar riffs are direct and enjoy them very much .
. Conclusion
Finish: Iron Maiden shows he is more alive than ever. Despite having ancient metal in the universe, are becoming more professional and just handed us a very good job than before. To qualify would put a 8.50.
.
The old school is kicking ass, unfortunately I doubt that emerging bands like Iron Maiden , Black Sabbath, Judas Priest Megadeth or in the near future.
Steve Harris Thanks for so much magic, UP THE IRONS!
